Terms of Use

Last updated: 28 July 2026

These terms apply to the Huddles app and website ("Huddles", "we", "us"). By signing in or using Huddles you agree to them. If you use Huddles on behalf of a school or ECD centre, you also confirm you are authorised to do so.

1. What Huddles is

Huddles is a record-keeping tool for crèches, kindergartens and ECD centres. Schools use it to log attendance, daily care, activities and incidents, and to share those records with the staff and parents they choose. Access is arranged by your school — there is no public sign-up.

2. Your account

3. Acceptable use

Use Huddles only for the childcare purposes of the school that gave you access. You may not:

We may suspend accounts that put children's information at risk or breach these terms.

4. The school's role

Each school controls its own space in Huddles: which learners are on it, what is recorded, and who may see what. Questions about the content of records — or requests to correct them — go to your school first. How personal information is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

5. What Huddles is not

In an emergency, act first. Huddles is a record-keeping tool. It is not medical advice, is not a medical device, and is never a substitute for the judgement of staff or emergency services. If a child needs help, call for help — log it afterwards.

6. Availability

We work hard to keep Huddles fast, secure and available — including offline support when the network is down — but we provide the service "as is" and cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or improve features at any time.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, Huddles. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies. The school remains responsible for its own record-keeping obligations and for the accuracy of what its staff record.

8. Intellectual property

Huddles, its design, name and mark belong to us. The records a school creates belong to that school and the families concerned — we claim no ownership of them.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date above always shows the current version, and we will tell schools about material changes. Continuing to use Huddles after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Questions: support@huddles.co.za.
